Our Story
S.M.A.R.T. is a non-profit organization ( 501c3 ) that desires to make a footprint and take a lead in providing temporary shelter as well as other support services for women and children that are homeless, recovering from drug and/or alcohol use, victims of spouse and child abuse, health issues, or otherwise find themselves economically disadvantaged to the detriment of their family unit.

Our History
S.M.A.R.T. is dedicated to my mother, Wadia Ahmad. As well as my grandmother, and and great-grandmother. These women were my driving force, which steered me to start S.M.A.R.T. The name S.M.A.R.T. was given to me in 1986 by a dear friend of mine named Safia, may she rest in peace. Since then, I have worked to build a corporation that would assist women in loving themselves, being independent, gaining social skills, transitioning back into their communities after disconnecting due to incarceration, addiction and domestic violence.
Our Goals
S.M.A.R.T. Inc. stands for the care and welfare of women and children that are spiritually, economically, mentally and physically at a disadvantage. S.M.A.R.T. aims to support women and children, give them the tools to cope when problems arrive, support, and love to develop and achieve whatever their heart desires. S.M.A.R.T. promotes unity to broken homes and desires to bring families together to make them a whole unit. In this, process there will be strength in families in hopes to make a change to a stronger family structure.
